šŸ•— ACE Meet Up #3 Meeting Minutes

Whatā€™s an AEC meeting without proper minutes? At ACE Meet Up #3 tons of topics and recommendations (both AEC and non-AEC) were thrown around.

Hereā€™s some that we captured:

šŸ—ļø Project of the week

Working on a project youā€™re proud of? Know anyone whoā€™s worked on a project from a previous newsletter? Tell us all about it and get featured in the ACE Club newsletter!

  • Development Team

  • Project Overview: A 36-story structure spanning over 170,000 square feet, with 62 condos, as well as 3,861 square feet of retail space. The building could potentially top out sometime next spring.

  • Why itā€™s interesting: This development replaces 3 low-rise structures that previously occupied the plot of land. RAMSA has been quite active around the neighborhood and the pre-war inspired structure will be gorgeous if the renderings are any indication.

šŸ“° Our favorite reads, listens & watches

  • The $20-Trillion Tunnel That Could Link New York and London - By creating a vacuum within the tunnel and using pressurized vehicles, trains traveling along the structure could theoretically reach speeds of more than 3,000 mph, making the journey between London and New York barely an hour long.

  • Advancing prosperity for architects - AIA President Kimberly Dowdell, AIA, NOMAC, discusses what AIA can do to address the key issues architects are facing.

  • The Modular Construction Landscape - The vision of factory-built homes solving the inefficiencies of traditional construction has captivated innovators for decades. However, the reality of modular construction reveals persistent challengesā€”economic, logistical, and culturalā€”that repeatedly thwart its success.

  • Can the U.S. Climb Out of Its ā€˜Unprecedentedā€™ Housing Crisis? - There is some optimism on the inventory front. The National Association of Home Builders is expecting construction to start on about one million single-family homes next year.
